First Off: Too any moderators whom it may concern:
This post, while isn't [Directly] related to Fortnite, is related to the very discussions forum I'm posting it on, which is why I left it labeled underneath the "General" tab. I do hope that this post isn't locked, and I do understand if it is due to offensive content (albeit even though it's really just my opinion, I have an odd feeling someone will do it.)
I'd like to start by saying this isn't hating on anyone that uses polls in their posts. On occasion, I do so myself, and I understand their use in practicality. What this post in specifics is about though is being a part of 4-5 wikis, the Fortnite wiki is the only one that excessively uses posts, and I don't mean that lightly. Scrolling down in the chat, I had seen just 5 non-poll related posts in the entire first load (I didn't click show more, although I can assume a similar average.)
I'm just curious as to why this wiki in particular A: Uses way more poll-related posts that never really get used after a certain point, and B: Why the Fortnite wiki actually has so many of them? I understand that they're used to gather quick information, but a lot seem quite repetitive, with fairly odd answers. Not singling out anyone, or specifically trying to hate on anyone who chose the lesser options, but to pick 2 in particular, there was
A post that asked Gold Scar/Famas, with an 81% in Scar. This seemed fairly obvious to me, as more people (in general) typically prefer an AR over a burst, and:
A post that asked which Battle Pass was your favorite. While this was less of a landslide victory, I feel that the (in my opinion) the season 4 and 5 battle passes were flops, the 2 was new to the point people didn't know if they wanted it, 3 and 6 are in the middle, and 7 is slightly above that.
Keep in mind any of my personal viewpoints are just that: OPINIONS. I know that someone in the chat is going to yell at me for saying
"Oh, that's your opinion, let people have their own!" I am. This is MY opinion.
Do you guys agree with me, getting back to the point here, that the poll function is overused?
I said above I use other wikis with less polling. These are the Nukapedia (Every fallout game ranging from Fallout to Fallout 76, with off-canon games like Fallout shelter and canceled projects), The Elder Scrolls (Ranging from the very first Elder Scrolls to Skyrim, and even TES:6) and Last Day On Earth, a small-medium popularity mobile game.
Thanks for reading the (quite) long post. Lemme know what you think in the comments?
